Finding Your Way

Manuevering around the roads and many canals of - Cape Coral can be challenging, even to long-time residents. Here are a few basic rules to help you get where you are going.

  • Avenues, Boulevards, Courts and Place run North to South.
  • Lanes, Terraces, Streets, and Parkways run East to West.
  • The first and/or second digit of a building number indicates the block number.
  • The last digit indicates which side of the street.  Even numbers indicate either the South or West side.  Odd numbers indicate either the North or East side.
  • - Cape Coral is broken down into four quadrants:  Southeast, Southwest, Northeast, and Northwest.  Most residential areas and some business areas identify themselves with either a SE, SW, NE, or NW designation.  Hint:  If you do not know which area of the city the numbered street is in, check before venturing out.
  • Santa Barbara Blvd runs North-South and thus is the East-West dividing line.  Hancock Bridge Parkway runs East-West and thus is the North-South dividing line.
  • Most, but not all, of the city's named streets are in the Downtown/Yacht Club area.  Hint:  If the street names are not followed by a Blvd or Pkwy designation, chances are they are located near the Downtown/Yacht Club area.

Rest assured, canals pose a navigational dilemma - even to the seasoned resident.  Just when you think you've arrived at a particular address, a canal will halt your progress and force you to drive around it to reach the location you're searching for.
